Sep. 22, 2016: The Ambassador of Australia to Ethiopia, Central Africa Republic, Djibouti, the South Sudan and Permanent Representative to the African Union, HE. Mr. Mark Sawers visited Mekelle University. His visit is aimed at exploring the developments at Mekelle University and learning about the research thematic areas and strategic focuses so as to create stronger partnerships with Australian Universities. He discussed with MU presidetn, Dr. Kindeya Gebrehiwot and all deans, directors and departent heads on potential areas of collaboration. He expressed his high expectations on more successful partnerships.
Mekelle University has a memorandum of understanding with the University of Canberra in Australia and is working to partner with more Australian universities to expand collaboration on research, joint academic programs and student and staff exchanges.
It is to be recalled that a delegation f the victorian state parliament visited MU in July, 2016.

July 20, 2016: A delegation of members of the Victorian State Parliament from Australia led by H.E. Hon. Bruce Atkinson visited Mekelle University. The delegation was warmly welcomed by members of the management of Mekelle University. A meeting with presentations about our university, the College of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Health Sciences was held at the Kallamino campus. The delegates visited the research facilities at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Kallamino campus.
H.E. Hon. Bruce and members of the delegation from University of Victoria and the Ethiopian Embassy in Canberra have expressed their inspirations and further discussions were held indicating more opportunities for collaboration. Recently, collaborations agreements have been established and signed between MU and Australian Universities. The agreement signed between MU and University of Canberra on staff and student exchange for academics and research engagements stands a bold example.
